It is in syrup and is often paired with zolbia. Iranian Muslims often use Bamieh and zulbia during Ramadan to break their fast.

Then the egg is used to puff up the Bamieh, which, of course, is a new method and has not been used in the past. This is the only difference between the old bamieh and the current one.
